MASAI MARA CROSSINGS, Kenya

The Wildebeest Migration is one of the “Seven New Wonders of the World” and also known as The World Cup Of Wildlife.

Nowhere in the world is there a movement of animals as immense as the wildebeest migration, over two million animals migrate from the Serengeti National Park  in Tanzania to the greener pastures of the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya during July through to October.

The animals have to cross the Mara River in the Masai Mara where crocodiles will prey on them. This is one of the highlights as the animals try and cross the Mara River alive.

There are very few experiences in the world that offer photographers this bizarre combination of the spectacular and the tragic on such a vast canvas of animal behaviour.

It is incredible, it is magical, it is indescribable and it is a must – a bucket list item  for every photographer !!!

When to visit the Masai Mara for the Migration:

July – October: This is when  the wildebeest are in the northern Serengeti plains, and you have a chance of seeing up to thousands crossing the great Mara River.
