Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park is a vast wildlife reserve in the Kalahari Desert region of Botswana and South Africa bordering Namibia to the west.
It’s characterised by red dunes and dry rivers which give life to the extensive and mesmerising beauty that the Kalahari Desert has to offer.
The park has an abundance of vast wildlife.
It is home to large predators such as Lions, Cheetahs, Leopards, and Hyenas.
Migratory herds of large herbivores such as Blue Wildebeest, Springbok, Eland, and Red Hartebeest also live and move seasonally within the park.
More than 200 species of birds can be found in the park, including vultures and raptors such as eagles, buzzards, and secretary birds.
One should also be on the lookout for Oryx, Black-Maned Kalahari Lions and sociable weavers.
For further interest, the Kgalagadi’s Auchterlonie museum provides the opportunity to experience what life was like in the Kalahari 100 years ago.
